Ingredients:

• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup cornmeal
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 tablespoon kosher salt
• 1 1/4 cups room temperature water
• 1/4 cup room temperature olive oil
• 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
• 1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese
• 1 pound Italian sausage
• 1 can crushed tomatoes
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1 teaspoon dried basil

Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, and kosher salt.
2. Add water and olive oil to the bowl and mix until everything is combined.
3. Add yeast to the bowl and mix until everything is combined.
4. Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature for 1 hour.
5. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
6. Roll out your dough to fit the size of your pan (I used a 12-inch cast iron skillet).
7. Place the rolled-out pizza dough into your pan and press it up the sides of the pan.
8. Layer shredded mozzarella cheese onto the crust.
9. Add Italian sausage on top of the cheese.
10. In a mixing bowl, combine crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, dried oregano, and dried basil.
11. Pour the tomato mixture on top of the sausage layer.
12. Bake your deep dish pizza in the oven for 30-35 minutes.
